The Montgomery County Animal Rescue in Red Oak, Iowa was established in 2001 by a group of concerned local citizens. Prior to that, there had been no animal shelters or organized animal rescues in our area.
Since 2001, we have facilitated hundreds of adoptions in our area. Although we are limited on housing, none of our adoptable animals are euthanized. MCAR works with our local veterinary clinics and regional rescues and shelters so that many animals have another chance at a loving home.
All of our adoptable dogs and cats are altered, vaccinated and micro-chipped prior to adoption. We receive no monies from city, county, state or federal agencies. MCAR is solely supported from donations by individuals, trusts, memorials, fundraisers and adoption fees.
At present, our web site is still under construction. The emphasis of our site will be the re-homing of stray and abandoned animals, upcoming events and fundraisers. These topics are certainly of interest to you. Check back often.
If you are not familiar with our animal rescue and your first contact with us is online - We would be pleased to hear from you! Please let us know what your needs and questions are, we will be more than happy to help. Go to the contact page and give us a BARK!!
