The Montgomery County Animal Rescue in Red Oak, Iowa was established in 2001 by a group of concerned local citizens.  Prior to that, there had been no animal shelters or organized animal rescues in our area.

Since 2001, we have facilitated hundreds of adoptions in our area.  Although we are limited on housing, none of our adoptable animals are euthanized.  MCAR works with our local veterinary clinics and regional rescues and shelters so that many animals have another chance at a loving home.

All of our adoptable dogs are altered, vaccinated and micro-chipped prior to adoption.  We receive no monies from city, county, state or federal agencies.  MCAR is solely supported from donations by individuals, trusts, memorials, fundraisers and adoption fees.

If you want to volunteer or need community service hours, please contact us for a volunteer application - call 712-370-0336 for more information.
